Gray Panthers of Metro Detroit is pleased to invite you to hear David Sanchez, an Immigration Rights Organizer with Michigan United and Abril Stewart-Valdes, a Michigan ACLU Immigrant Rights Attorney, give presentations on "Stand Up for Immigrants Rights: An Action Agenda for Michigan". Coffee and socializing start at 9:30 a.m. The program starts at 10 a.m. Immigrant families are being threatened by policies supported by racist, right wing politicians. Here's an opportunity to learn about plans to create a more just America. This presentation is being co-sponsored by: Peace Action of Michigan, Southeast Michigan Green Party Locals; United Church of Christ- Detroit Metropolitan Area; and Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and Michigan United.

Gray Panthers of Metro Detroit is pleased to invite you to hear Sharin Davenport, a long-time activist in the Transgender Equality Movement and the Green Party's 2018 candidate for Lt. Governor, provide a presentation "LGBTQ Rights: No Plan B". Her talk features an update on progress being made in Michigan for LGBTQ rights. Early in January, Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued a Declaration that would make discrimination illegal toward LGBTQ people through state government and its contractors. Ms. Davenport will share her views on federal and state legislation and will take a critical look at the judicial system.

You're invited to hear Curt Guyette, investigative reporter for ACLU-Michigan and an award winning journalist, speak on "What's Next After the Election?" Many of us are working hard to educate and turn out the vote for the November 6th mid-term elections. Take a step toward making sense of the outcomes of this election by attending this informative program. Curt Guyette is a crusading reporter who investigated the Flint water crisis. As a result, he was named "Journalist of the Year" by the Michigan Press Association. He was given three other awards for his outstanding reporting on legal issues.

Gray Panthers of Metro Detroit will work with Jobs with Justice to hold a forum on the ballot issues in which you'll hear short presentations on several ballot issues (Voters Not Politicians, Earned Paid Sick Time, One Fair Wage, Ballot Reform, Legalize Marijuana) and then speakers will meet with the audience in small groups to answer their questions.
