Donald Trump is in Asia. Military experts have estimated a 20% – 50% likelihood that he will start a new war against North Korea in the near future. Even without the use of nuclear weapons, 300,000 people could die from such a war in the first few days. With nukes, one million people could die in the first day. A Nightmare: People all over the world facing bombings, occupations, war and the threat of nuclear war with Donald Trump’s “America First” finger on the nuclear trigger. Only the people acting together can end this nightmare. Protest this Saturday, November 11 and join Refuse Fascism, a movement of people coming from diverse perspectives united in our recognition that the T/P regime poses a catastrophic danger to humanity and the planet and that is our responsibility to drive them from power. Refuse Fascism is building a movement that aims to take to the streets everyday in non violent protest in cities and towns across the country, growing from thousands to hundreds of thousands, and ultimately millions, demanding This Nightmare Must End: The Trump/Pence Regime Must Go.

We call for a #MarchForTruth on Saturday, June 3rd to raise our voices and let our elected leaders know that American citizens want answers. The legitimacy of our democracy is more important than the interests of any party, or any President. So, we will rise together to call for a fair and impartial investigation, for the pursuit of truth, and for the restoration of faith in our electoral system and the Office of the Presidency.

When members of Congress return to Washington DC after Labor Day, they will vote on whether to send us down the path of peace and diplomacy or the path of continuing hostility. We will urge Senator Gary Peters and his colleagues down the right path. Meet in front of the Swords into Plowshares Gallery and Peace Center for brief speeches and some serious photo ops. At 8:00 pm or so we cross Woodward to the west side of Grand Circus Park where we join with the Cities of Peace Detroit and the Detroit Light Brigade to create an iconic photo for peace. Vigilers will be asked to post photos to Facebook, as well as email and tweet photos to Senator Peters and his colleagues. Bring a camera, if you have one. Otherwise, we'll share photos you can send.

Lets shine a light on the secretive TPP deal. The plan is to light up the building right across from the main entrance to Comerica park when the game lets out. Plus there is a building that can be seen from inside the park that we might be able to light up during the fireworks show ? http://www.facebook.com/events/832619516785391/

Every day, thousands of them, in a city that is situated right by a body of water carrying one-fifth of the world’s water supply, are having their water ruthlessly cut off by men working for the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department. Most of the residents are African American and two-thirds of the cut offs involve children, which means that in some cases, child welfare authorities are moving in to remove children from their homes as it is a requirement that there be working utilities in all homes housing children." From June 27-28, "A Voice for Men" is hosting an international Men's Rights conference at the Downtown Doubletree Hotel in Detroit: (link to "Voice for Men") http://www.donotlink.com/jiN "A Voice for Men" is part of the "Men's Rights" movement, which claims that women want to be sexually assaulted and that women have a "predilection for being physically overpowered" (links to "Voice for Men:" http://www.donotlink.com/fWE). They have actively threatened and harassed women who speak out against sexual violence (dailydot.com/news/feminist-blogger-in-hiding-mra-death-threats/), clogged rape crisis hotlines (jezebel.com/mras-flood-occidental-colleges-rape-reporting-form-wit-1485944598), and opposed legislation against sexual assault (newrepublic.com/article/116768/latest-target-mens-rights-movement-definition-rape). They promote and enable violence, as exemplified by the recent shootings in Isla Vista by a man who followed their ideas (huffingtonpost.ca/anne-theriault-/elliot-rodger-shooting_b_5386818.html). On June 7th, we will gather at Grand Circus Park and march to the Doubletree Hotel to demand cancellation of the conference. It's time to put a stop to sexual violence. NO to violence! NO to misogyny! NO to the "Men's Rights" conference! ----- Sign the petition for the Doubletree to cancel the conference! https://www.change.org/petitions/doubletree-downtown-detroit-hotel-cancel-the-men-s-rights-conference ----- We are seeking to confront internalized sexism, misogyny, and racism in order to bring about a more inclusive discussion, which is what we hope to see happen in place of the Men's Rights Conference. This will be reflected in our rhetoric and signs at the march.
