This is the third of a series of "Make Government Work" Forums sponsored by Southeast Michigan Jobs with Justice and UAW Region 1A Retired Workers Council. The Forums are designed to give social justice activists the tools they can use to counter 40 years of anti-government messaging and anti-government governing. Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 10am-noon
Southeast Michigan Jobs with Justice and UAW Region 1A Retirees Council present the third "Make Government Work" forum. Let's learn how conservative economic policies - based on conservative values of “Limited Government,” “Free Markets,” and “Personal Responsibility” - failed America during the Great Depression of the 1930s…and the Great Recession of 2008. Let's learn the lessons of Roosevelt's New Deal as we brainstorm together on what a new 'New Deal' might look like for today. Progressive values - (1) A Government that serves the Common Good, (2) An economy that profits all the people, and (3) An America that is a Community where we look out for each other - can potentially inspire people to vote and Make Government Work…Again. One-hour PowerPoint history. One-hour small group and large group discussions.
