From Stardust to Star Wars to OnStar, Detroit has seen it all. Come on out with all your glittery, gaudy, glorious (and goofy) Star Power on Sunday, March 20th, as we meet the Nain Rouge once again on the streets of the Cass Corridor. It will be an intergalactic good time! Join 6,000 revelers to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the departure of the Nain Rouge, the fiendish imp intent on ruining Detroit. But don’t wait until Sunday to start the fun – Marche events and specials happen all week long! Fete du Nain! THE MAIN EVENT All are invited to join in the Marche, a parade made up of the citizens of Detroit. Just show up and join in the celebration. Show up between noon and 1 p.m. The Marche du Nain Rouge proper begins at 1 p.m., or thereabouts, at the intersection of Canfield and Second, near the parking lot of Traffic Jam & Snug. Revelers celebrate the spring equionox and lay a solid groundwork for hope for the upcoming year, just in case the Nain should try something dastardly. Revelers are encouraged to come masked or fully costumed; groups are encouraged to join in the fun with DIY chariots. PLEASE NOTE: This year, due to M1 construction, The Marche will process along Second Avenue instead of Cass. NO OPEN CARRY OF ALCOHOL. Be Smart! Also, be respectful of fellow parade attendees. Especially protesters. Everyone is entitled to their view of the legend of the Nain Rouge. CASH PRIZES will be presented to Detroit neighborhood groups with the best floats! Register online. Check in at the REGISTRATION Tent in the TJs parking lot. There is no cost, just come out and have a good time. When the parade is done, stick around for the after parties!
