Rain Barrels on the River Front The Sierra Club in partnership with the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy and MI Rain Barrel is sponsoring a free rain barrel workshop. Learn to make rain barrels and hook them up to downspouts to capture rain water from roofs for use in gardens, landscaping and other outdoor uses. In addition to saving money on water bills, capturing and using rain water keeps polluted runoff from entering the region's aging sewer system which protects our rivers. Additionally, watch an artist from the Oakland Avenue Artist Coalition turn a rain barrel into a work of art! The workshop is free; however, if you want to make a rain barrel to take home, you must purchase your barrel by April 22nd. Rain barrels can be purchased at www.mirainbarrel.com/signup. For more information call 313-444-3705.
