Tomorrow, MSU administration has called a mediator in for bargaining for GEU, the MSU graduate local. If you can come to MSU's Nesbitt building tomorrow at 5pm to show solidarity for the local, please do. MSU wants to reduce tuition waivers for the graduate assistants and take away their dependent health care subsidies. Lead negotiator for MSU, Kathy Elliot, has said that GA's are asking for too much. She stated that graduate students need to make choices between going to graduate school or having families. She compared it to the the hard budget choice between having meat in your spaghetti sauce or not. Over 300 GEU members in under 5 hours have answered a survey stating how the tuition waiver reduction will be a great hardship. Many members with families will be devastated by the healthcare changes.
